The Rise Artificial Neurons

Scientists announced recently that they have developed artificial neurons that can mimic the complexity and functionality of biological neurons in the brain.

Here is the TL;DR of their report:

  • The study was conducted by researchers from the University of Manchester and the University of Sheffield in the UK.
  • These artificial neurons use a new type of transistor that can simulate the behavior of ion channels found in biological neurons.
  • The new transistors allow the artificial neurons to perform complex computations and communicate with other neurons in a similar way to biological neurons.
  • This technology has potential applications in developing more efficient and powerful artificial intelligence systems.
  • The researchers believe that this approach could also lead to new treatments for neurological disorders by allowing for more accurate simulations of brain activity.
  • The new artificial neurons are more energy-efficient than previous approaches, making them more practical for use in real-world applications.
  • The artificial neurons were tested in simulations and were able to perform complex computations such as pattern recognition and image processing.
  • The researchers believe that this technology could eventually lead to the development of brain-inspired computing systems that are more efficient and capable than current approaches.
  • The team plans to continue developing and refining the artificial neurons, with the ultimate goal of creating a brain-inspired computing system that can rival the capabilities of the human brain.

Decoding Thoughts with AI ?

Scientists announced recently that they have discovered a way to utilise brain scans and artificial intelligence modelling to reproduce “the gist” of what individuals are thinking, a step towards mind reading.

Here is the TL;DR of their report:

  • The study was conducted by researchers from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Maryland.
  • The technique combines machine learning algorithms and fMRI (functional MRI) scans to identify specific thought patterns.
  • The study involved 50 participants who performed different tasks while undergoing fMRI scans.
  • The researchers trained the AI on a dataset of brain scans and corresponding thoughts, then tested its accuracy on new data.
  • The study found that the AI was able to decode thoughts with an accuracy of 87%.
  • The technology has potential applications in fields such as neuroscience, psychology, and artificial intelligence.
  • It could be used to help patients with communication disabilities or to improve brain-computer interfaces.
  • The research is still in the early stages, and more testing is needed to determine its effectiveness and practical applications.

Kahlil’s Love

Photograph of Khalil Gibran During his youth.

Khalil (1883-1931) was a Lebanese-American writer, poet, and artist who is best known for his book “The Prophet”. Born in Lebanon, Gibran moved to the United States as a young man and became a prominent member of the literary and artistic community in New York City.

Throughout his career, Gibran wrote dozens of books of poetry, prose, and art, and his work was widely celebrated for its beauty, depth, and spiritual themes. “The Prophet” is perhaps his most famous work and has sold millions of copies worldwide since its publication in 1923. The book consists of a series of poetic essays on topics such as love, marriage, children, work, and death, and has been translated into over 40 languages.

The following is an excerpt from ”The Prophet” on the topic of love.

Then said Almitra, “Speak to us of Love.” And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a
stillness upon them. And with a great voice he said:

“When love beckons to you, follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him, Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself. He threshes you to make you naked. He sifts you to free you from your husks. He grinds you to whiteness. He kneads you until you are pliant; And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life’s heart.

But if in your fear you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure, Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor, Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, “God is in my heart,” but rather, “I am in the heart of God.” And think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving; To rest at the noon hour and meditate love’s ecstasy; To return home at eventide with gratitude; And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise on your lips.”

Powerfull Quotes on Watchfulness

Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

Watchfulness is a way embracing every virtue, every commandment. It is the heart’s stillness and, when free from mental images, it is the guarding of the intellect.
One type of watchfulness consists in closely scrutinizing every mental image or provocation; for only by means of a mental image can Satan fabricate an evil thought and insinuate this into the intellect in order to lead it astray.

A second type of watchfulness consists in freeing the heart from all thoughts, keeping it profoundly silent and still, and in praying.
A third type consists in continually and humbly calling upon the Lord Jesus Christ for help.
A fourth type is always to have the thought of death in one’s mind.
These types of watchfulness, act like doorkeepers and bar entry to evil
thoughts.
Guard your mind and you will not be harassed by temptations. But if you fail to guard it, accept patiently whatever trial comes.

The Hidden Parts

As long as their inner parts are hidden, most things in the world stand upright and live. If they are revealed, they die, as illustrated by the visible man: as long as the man’s intestines are hidden, the man is alive; when his intestines are exposed and come out of him, the man will die.

So also with the tree: while its root is hidden, it sprouts and grows. If its root is exposed, the tree dries up. So it is with every birth that is in the world, not only with the revealed but with the hidden.

For so long as the root of wickedness is hidden, it is strong. But when it is recognized, it is dissolved. When it is revealed, it perishes. That is why the Word says, “Already the axe is laid at the root of the trees” (Mt 3:10). It will not merely cut – what is cut sprouts again – but the ax penetrates deeply, until it brings up the root. Jesus pulled out the root of the whole place, while others did it only partially.

As for ourselves, let each one of us dig down after the root of evil which is within one, and let one pluck it out of one’s heart from the root. It will be plucked out if we recognise it. But if we are ignorant of it, it takes root in us and produces its fruit in our heart. It masters us. We are its slaves. It takes us captive, to make us do what we do not want; and what we do want, we do not do. It is powerful because we have not recognised it. While it exists it is active. Ignorance is the mother of all evil. Ignorance will result in death, because those who come from ignorance neither were nor are nor shall be. ….

For truth is like ignorance: while it is hidden, it rests in itself, but when it is revealed and is recognised, it is praised, inasmuch as it is stronger than ignorance and error. It gives freedom. The Word said, “If you know the truth, the truth will make you free” (Jn 8:32).

Ignorance is a slave. Knowledge is freedom. If we know the truth, we shall find the fruits of the truth within us. If we are joined to it, it will bring us fulfilment.

What Is Truth ?!

What is Truth ?
Truth is the principle that governs creation while love is the reason.
Neither can’t exist without the other.
Wisdom is the totality and can only be awakened within, it cannot be taught nor found without.

We often think of truth as facts or information that lacks human subjectivity. Real truth is objective reality, which is impossible for humans to experience since we are subjective beings. Each human has a dependent origin, truth has independent origin and purely objective. The concept of truth can be more subjective and context-dependent than the concept of fact. The concept of truth is not the same as truth

Truth is the matrix of existence.
Life is truth animated through love.
All facts are true but not all truths are necessarily factual.
Fact refers to a thing that is known or proven to be true.
Information is a series of facts provided or learned about something or someone.

Fact or information are means by which truth is communicated with language, comparable to the physical body being a vehicle of the mind or the mind being a medium through which consciousness expresses itself. However, consciousness is beyond the mind and the mind is beyond the physical body. Likewise, the truth cannot be contained within language.

The sages have said, that Truth is eternal, profoundly unknown to man, and that the first step is approaching truth is in knowing oneself.

The question answers itself. “What is Truth !”, that is to say, Truth is constantly asking to be known, and the methods by which we are becoming aware of the truth continue to evolve as we understand more in science and human experiences. If truth is ‘asking’ then perhaps the real question we should ask ourselves … Who is Truth?

New Year or New You

It’s finally here, the so-called New Year, but let us not fool ourselves its the same old same old for many of us.

We lives our year to year like lab mice running around in a wheel. We titrate pleasure for disappointment, success for loss and we hope to have long life so we can enjoy our ephemeral pleasures and live happily ever. We repeat this cycle each year chasing a future that changes continually.

Why do we go about wishing each other happy and prosperous new years. We all know that there’s gonna be mishaps, setbacks, fiascos, we gonna make dumb mistakes, climates gonna change, the world’s gonna fall apart even further and we gonna repeat our resolutions because we forgot that we had made them the previous year.

We all know that someday we are gonna die so let’s save death the surprise and die to ourselves right now and live for Christ. A thousand years in His understanding is like a day so why are mulling about wanting to live to see a new year.

What’s the sense if you are among the walking dead? For only they would wait for 1 entire year before they re-commit resolutions and gauge the success of their worldly gains and pleasures based on this measure of time.

The truly living, indeed, dies while they are alive, they live from moment to moment cognizant of the fact that life is stream of choices, that life is so short and therefore there is no time to waste.

Imagine an eternity compared to the average lifespan? That life from birth to death, the little dash between those dates on the headstone is what the Creator will remember about us for an entire eternity. Looking at it that way we realise that there is no time, we don’t have the time to wait, until our youthful years of materialism and glamour has passed before we really start to Live a “Good” Life. Furthermore death is so sudden and its timing so uncertain.

We are souls, not just animated clay so don’t be like those who forget God and therefore he made them forget their souls.
You never know how much you believe or have faith in something until it becomes a matter of life and death.

Hope all my peeps ave a sobering new year!

Peace :d

Happy New You

Happy new year all my friends. It’s a new year and we are indeed “growing”. What is growth? By now every atom in every cell in our organism as a child has been recycled with the universe. The kid we were then has died, life, as we know it, is sustained by death and rebirth.

In this transition through another 365 day-cycle we should remember that our lives are not measured from new year to year but by consistent growth in becoming who we are truly meant to be. True growth, is dying to that which does not define who we are.

Becoming who we are truly meant to be is not the same as finding one’s identity. Many think life is about finding their identity or creating one, however our identity already is. We should therefore remember our identity at all times without mistaking it as our personalities, egos or cultural bonds. Our identity is the source of our being, Life, a citizen of Eternal Love.

Becoming who we are truly meant to be, is manifesting this identity according to our own eternal idiosyncrasies and gifts.

Things fade, people are forgotten, circumstances will change, fortunes will be lost, experiences will be had and gone. What we are truly meant to be is not typified by a life lived ensuring that we keep certain circumstances the same, hold on to fortunes, relive good experiences or hold on to people that we love. What we are truly meant to be involves making every moment in life count, making every moment reflect a choice that elevates our being to the highest. Let us choose to be the best of who we are being, in every moment.

In this new year may peace and sincerity guide our hearts towards a higher meaning.
